Any player interested in joining Columbus Express for the upcoming season is encouraged to attend annual tryouts. Both new and returning players should register and participate in the evaluation process.

No. Players of varying experience levels are welcome. Our staff evaluates each player and recommends the most appropriate program or team based on their current ability and developmental needs.

Players should arrive with:

• Wear a black shirt
• Soccer cleats
• Shin guards
• Water
• Appropriate training attire
• A properly inflated soccer ball (if requested)

Players should arrive 15–20 minutes early for check-in.

Players who cannot attend an annual tryout should register and contact the club as soon as possible. Depending on availability, the club may offer a supplemental tryout, a tryout by appointment, or another evaluation opportunity.

Yes. Player movement may occur when it supports the player’s development or meets the needs of the club. These decisions are made by the Columbus Express technical staff.

Players may attend annual tryouts in accordance with applicable league and governing body rules.  Mid-season evaluations and roster changes are subject to player registration, transfer, and release policies.

Yes. When roster openings exist or additional players are needed, the club may schedule supplemental tryouts before the Fall season, during the Winter training period, or prior to the Spring season. These opportunities are announced only when necessary.

Players who are unable to attend scheduled tryouts may request an individual evaluation by appointment. Availability depends on roster needs, staffing, and league registration guidelines.

US Youth Soccer and US Club Soccer have decided to move to a new age group cycle that runs from August 1 to July 31.  This change helps better align players with their school-grade classmates and is intended to be more inclusive and increase participation.

In certain situations, players may be evaluated for placement in a different age group when it is in the player’s best developmental interest.

Goalkeepers are encouraged to register for tryouts just like field players. They will participate in team activities and, when possible, receive position-specific evaluations.
