Trio earn national recognition

After the recent success on the US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup circuit, Angel Espejel, Julian Jackson, and Parker Gribbins have been recognized by US Youth Soccer for their efforts at USYS Presidents Cup Nationals as Best XI Team members.

Espejel, a forward, continued his tear through the Regional Championship with a goal against Aztecas FC in game two of Nationals. At Regionals, he was able to help CESC with timely goal-scoring and play-making. While not as able to find the net as frequently as in the previous round, Espejel was a threat in the attack scoring one goal and ringing posts in multiple games.

Jackson, arguably the most impressive individual attacker at the event, earned a spot in the Best XI with his play in the wide areas. A convincing two-way player, it was Jackson’s ability to beat players with the dribble and create goal-scoring chances for himself and others that stood out to the USYS Best XI selection committee. Jackson finished his weekend with a brilliant individual effort that beat Antelope Valley’s backline.

Gribbins solidified his spot in the Best XI team with his defensive prowess and ball-playing ability from the midfield. A stalwart in stopping the opponent, Gribbins was equally effective in his ability to build the attack. While he did not find the back of the net, his ability on free kicks was dangerous resulting in two posts rung from midfield.
